International Office
Duke University School of Medicine School of Nursing Health System International House
Registration 2008 - For All New F and J Students

Welcome to Duke University – we look forward to having you join us here in Durham!

All entering international students are required to participate in an orientation program conducted by their individual schools or programs. Additionally, Immigration regulations require that all F and J visa holders studying/researching at Duke University register with the host institution. Duke requires that all other new international students in a different visa class register with us as well. In an effort to make this as easy as possible, the Duke International Office has set-up mass registration sites for students which will eliminate you having to come, one-by-one, to our office to register.

We Will Come To You!

Please note below the following days, times and locations for your specific registration. You must bring the following items with you (for your dependents as well, if applicable):

  1. Your visa document: I-20 or DS-2019.
  2. Your passport containing your visa stamp (Canadians do not need visa stamps) AND your I-94 card (the small white card received at the port-of-entry, probably stapled into your passport).
  3. If you will be receiving money from Duke (assistantship, fellowship, scholarship, tuition waiver, etc.), please bring a copy of the award letter.
  4. Any Non-Duke “J” students (e.g., IIE, ACTR, LASPAU, etc.) who want to work on campus MUST bring a letter from their program sponsor confirming their work eligibility.

After August 8th, students must attend the mass registration scheduled for their respective schools.

* No registrations August 1st.

NOTE: F-1/J-1 Students - Failure to register by the first day of class has the potential to render you out of valid F-1 or J-1 status. Don’t let this happen to you! At registration, important information regarding how not to violate your visa status or be stranded outside the U.S. if you travel will be shared with you.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
